LO: to find out about William Morris
Year 6 worked in groups to research William Morris. Each person in the group created their own slide which contained some of their research.



























LO: to explore how design is used in the home
Year 6 Strarted a new topic: Famous Fashions. This first lesson was spant looking a a variety of different designers who’s designs can be found in our homes.They then chose a designer to find out about, writing a few sentences about their style and how to identify products designed by them. The designers they looked at were: Jasper Conran, Emma Bridgewater, Phillipe Starck, Cath Kidston, Tom Farrage and Tiffany.They then chose a product card and sketched an item in the style of their chosen designer


















LO: to sketch and annotate a mythical being using symbolism
Year 6 continued with exploring some of Klimt’s work.This time they briefly looked at some of the symbolism in Klimt’s Beethoven frieze.They then looked at a few words like, anger, love, wisdom to help them sketch and annotate their imaginary mythical being. They really produced some excellent work.
























Lo: to create a Victorian Pin- prick Christmas card
To finish off the Victorian Christmas work that we have been doing over the last few weeks, the children created their own Victorian Pin – prick Christmas cards. They chose their design, folded card in half and using a drawing pin and template followed along the outline. They then finished it off with a ribbon. They are very effective, especially if held up to the light.
























LO: to create a Victorian Christmas gift
Year 6 continued with their Victorian gift creations. The decoupage keepsake box is almost complete, they now need to be assembled. The toy theatre s are taking shape as are the table mats.












LO: to follow a design to create a Victorian gift
Year 6 started their Victorian gift creations. Some children started choosing designs to decoupage for a keepsake box. The other group of children started creating a toy theatre and the other group started sewing buttons onto felt to make a table mat.









LO: to design and plan a Victorian Christmas gift
Osborne House has issued a challenge, to create a gift fit for a queen. Some of the gifts will be displayed at Osborne House. We set about finding out about Victorian Christmas traditions. The children were surprised to find out that all our Christmas traditions come from the Victorians. They also watched a a video showing a typical Victorian Christmas, noticing the differences and similarities between then and now. The children then chose some activities to plan and design: Toy theatre, a keepsake box and table mats.





















LO: to explore Klimt patterns
Year 6 completed their work on Klimt patterns. They look so very effective.



























LO: to explore Klimt’s use of pattern.
Year 6 looked closely at the patterns Klimt used in his work.They observed that in all his paintings, the people look realistic but their clothing and background is made up of a variety of different shapes. To emulate this, they chose a an image of a face from a magazine, cut it out and using black pen, created their own versions of the patterns around the face.
