Year 6 , created a styrofoam printing block.After choosing an image, they transferred their design onto the styrofoam. They then carefully traced over their design again, gently pressing down to create indentations. Next time, they will apply ink and print their design.

Year 6 used felt tips and pen to create a variety of patterns. This was a one off lesson as the vast majority of the year froupThey started off by drawing a shape in the middle of their page. They made it a solid block of colour and then continued to add rows of shapes and patterns until the whole page was filled in. Some amazing patterns.Well do

Lo: to print a mono print

Year 6 used rollers and ink to create a mono print. They chose an Angie Lewin design, placed it on top of the ink. Using a black biro they then traced over parts of the design they wished to print. Some very effective monoprint.

Year 6 had the pleasure of a visit from our resident artist, Ian Whitmore. They looked at the work of the Welsh sculptor, David Nash. They looked at the type of land art that he creates and at some of the geometric shapes found in art by a zen monk. They explored the use of pigments and shape in relation to each other. They then used chalk pastes and geometric shapes to create their own compositions. They looked absolutely amazing.

Year 6 were introduced to the work of Angie Lewin. They used information gained from a variety of videos to create a visual fact file about her and her work. They were particularly fascinated with the use of lithographs which she uses to print her designs.

Lo: to compare and contrast 2 different William Morris designs

Year 6 completed sketching and adding colour to their William Morris designs. They then chose two different designs and compared them, observing carefully what was similar and different. They also explained their favourite design and explained why it was their favourite.

Year 6 looked at a few different William Morris wallpaper and fabric designs. They then chose one which they liked to sketch and colour, finishing their work off with black pen detail. They sketched very carefully and created some lovely designs.
